Cabaret
Book by Joe Masteroff, Based on the play by John Van Druten, and Stories by Christopher Isherwood
Music by John Kander
Lyrics by Fred Ebb
Originally Co-directed and Choreographed by Rob Marshall. Originally Directed by Sam Mendes
Willkommen, bienvenue, welcome… to Cabaret!
Set in 1929 Berlin during the twilight of the Jazz Age and the Nazi Party’s ascent to power, the bawdy yet seductive Emcee lures you into the world of the Kit Kat Club where all of your troubles are left at the door. With hit musical numbers including, “Willkommen,” “Cabaret,” “Don’t Tell Mama,” “Two Ladies,” “Maybe This Time,” and many more!
Once again, performed by a cast of actors 55 and up, this Cabaret continues Theatre 55’s work of reinterpreting musical works through the lens of age and aging. If you saw Rent, Rocky Horror, or Hair, you know how very powerful—and fun—this can be!
Performance Location: Mixed Blood Theater, 1501 South Fourth Street, Minneapolis, MN 55454
